People don’t last – but memories do.
Will your story be preserved?
Mission Statement
To faithfully capture your life story in your own words in a way which will allow you to be remembered the way you want to be remembered.
To capture “the real you” – not just a collection of events.
To create a compelling recording of your story which people will want to hear.
To offer the same opportunity to your loved ones.
What is an “Audio Life Portrait”?
Listen here! You are listening and hearing someone special. Experiencing their battles and triumphs. Reliving the key events of their life – early childhood memories, first job, hearing about the people who had a major influence on them. Discovering how it feels to be in their shoes. Gaining an insight into their life.
You’re hearing their voice after they have gone. Memories are triggered. The good times come flooding back allowing you to relive those great moments. As you listen your mind is filled with a vision of their memory.My father died in 1983 and although I have photos, I wish I could hear his voice again. The stories he told, the way he told them, his ideas on life, are now just a fuzzy memory. I’d love to be able to play a CD and hear his voice again.
An “audio life portrait” is a professionally edited recording which will become a treasured audio archive. The interview process covers the following areas:
- Childhood and early memories
- Working life
- Family
- Life’s lessons and people who have had a significant influence
- Great experiences
- Crazy experiences
- Faith, philosophy, beliefs – and what has shaped them
- Successes
- Failures, hard times and struggles
- Plans for the future – any unfulfilled goals or dreams
- Legacy that you would like to leave.
- Any other areas of importance.
Capture those memories before they are lost forever!
Why get you own Audio Life Portrait done?
- Chance to have the most important aspects of who you are recorded for others to hear;
- Opens doors for family members to know you and understand you better;
- Allows you to make a difference in the lives of others by your articulating your faith, your philosophy on life and the lessons that you have learnt on life’s journey;
- It’s a great experience to be interviewed professionally – an experience you will remember.
- Allows you to “capture” memories while they are still clear. The passage of time and advancing age may mean that certain memories may become distorted or lost forever if left too long to record.
- The process is enjoyable, simple, inexpensive and relatively quick and straightforward – especially compared to alternatives such as writing an autobiography.
- There are NO video cameras! The process is simply an “audio” process – you need not be concerned about “how you will look”.
- You get to share what you want to share – you can direct the emphasis of the interview to focus on one or two areas of particular importance.
- We also ask about your unfulfilled goals and plans for the future – the process can be motivating as we ask you to clarify the areas of importance in your life.
- Your children and grandchildren WILL be glad that you took the time and had the foresight to have your story recorded. In years to come, your Audio Life Portrait will be a treasured memory and one of the main tangible reminders of you long after you have gone.
Why have Audio Life Portraits of your parents or grandparents done?
- You may be surprised to learn things about your parents that you never knew. It’s amazing how people open up during an Audio Life Portrait interview.
- You will feel that you understand your parents and grandparents better by hearing their story from their unique perspective.
- They will be pleased and flattered that you care enough to want to have their story recorded.
- It is a unique present – they won’t have one already!
- There is a huge amount of wisdom and knowledge to be gained by listening to the stories of earlier generations. These stories form a valuable addition to our social history, as well as being invaluable for the history of your family.
- Relive the excitement of their ‘craziest moments’, the time that your parents first met, their first day at school, and the times that they got themselves into trouble (and how they got themselves out of trouble).
- Learn what motivates them – discover their passions – discover what they consider to be their reason for living!
- An opportunity to have a professional interviewer ask those questions of your parents that you just don’t quite know how to ask yourself.
- Enjoy hearing back from them after the interview how much they enjoyed being interviewed.
“A WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE!”
A wonderful experience for the person being interviewed – maybe a parent, a grandparent, an aunt or uncle, possible a valuable friend or someone whom you respect and admire. Maybe there’s some questions that you would like to ask but have never had the courage – or maybe the opportunity has not presented itself. What’s it like being interviewed – its enjoyable, its fun, you feel special as someone is taking the time to listen, really listen, to what you are saying and to explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences. Gain a sense of satisfaction in knowing that you will leave behind a permanent record of yourself. Something that can’t be replaced.
