A world first!
The world's first purpose-built Scrabble pavilion is being built on the NSW South Coast near Cobargo. The plan is to have it suitably decked out for Scrabble comps, Scrabble training days, or simply recreational Scrabble. In-built rotating boards and decorations designed to inspire people to great Scrabble heights are all part of the grand concept.
Scrabble at Calboonya, Lyrebird Ridge
When Tony moved to Calboonya with his family, he made a promise to himself that he would "never get too busy to stop for some games of Scrabble". Tony is keen to help people reach their "Scrabble goals" whatever they may be. He is also keen to promote Scrabble in the local area. He is keen to hear from Scrabble players visiting the region, who may be encouraged to take part in Scrabble promotional activities, if they are willing. Such activities may include simply playing a few tournament-style games in a publicly accessable space, such as a cafe, park, or beer garden. Or it may include demonstration games in schools or for community groups. There are also opportunities to play a part of making the exciting Scrabble Pavilion project come to fruition.
Current activities at Calboonya
- The construction of a "Scrabble pavilion" using materials sourced from the property
- Maintenance of the bike tracks or other infrastructure
- Cultivating and harvesting organic produce
- Artistic input
- Animal care
- Other creative ideas welcome
