WHY SELL YOUR STAMPS?

Lets say you have a stamp collection. Maybe you have put it together over many years personally, or maybe you have inherited it. If you’re not interested in stamps personally, then you have the choice of keeping them or selling them (or giving them away!). If you decide to keep them, be aware that correct storage is vital to retaining their value, otherwise they may develop brown spots or be affected by moisture, which will significantly devalue them. Then there’s the risk of theft or other members of the family not appreciating their value. Also, if you have value tied up in stamps, consider how that “value” could be applied to your financial situation – maybe to pay off a credit card debt or to possibly reduce the mortgage.

METHODS OF SALE

There are various ways to dispose of a stamp collection. You can submit your collection to an auction house. They will generally charge you a significant commission (to which GST is added). They also generally charge buyers a similar commission which buyers take into account when making their bids. You will get paid after the sale - often a long time elapses between submitting your stamps to receiving any payment.

Then there are on-line auctions which tend to be dominated by one particular player. Be aware that stamp collectors can be a fussy breed and expect items to be described accurately. This method is valid if you are an expert in stamps but another factor to take into account is the not inconsiderable amount of time involved in photographing, describing, dealing with emails, quoting postage, packaging etc when selling items on-line. Then there are the fees that the on-line auction company charge – listing fees, gallery fees, final value fees etc. You need to seriously ask yourself do you have the expertise and “could my time be better spent?”

Alternatively, you could sell to me!

Why sell to me? Over the past years I have built up a loyal following of collectors who buy from me on-line. I rely on accurate descriptions and delivering great service. I also have low costs.

I will look at your stamps and make an offer on the spot – right there and then, no fuss!

You may say – how do I know I am getting the highest price for my stamps? The answer is ‘you don’t’. I try to be fair, but you need to consider what effort you need to go to to find a higher price. You may find that you go to the trouble of finding a better price and discover that my offer was the best one. My offer is “on the spot” – convenient, immediate payment.!!

When you sell to me there is no GST loss provided you are a private collector or if you have inherited the stamps.

OUR METHOD OF PURCHASE

As condition is critical, I must SEE the stamps before I buy them. Please don’t waste our time by trying to describe a stamp collection in detail over the phone or by email. Mail your stamps to me by Registered Post. Please use REAL STAMPS on the package, not those useless labels. Using short issue commemorative stamps and asking the postal offer to cancel them lightly will enhance the price I pay.

YOU MUST USE REGISTERED OR INSURED MAIL WHEN SENDING STAMPS!!

Address the stamps to: Tony Hunt, 111 Lyrebird Ridge Rd, Cobargo, 2550.

If sending stamps from outside Australia, you must notify me first!!

I also regularly travel between Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra and can make home visits to view suitable collections by prior arrangement.

Generally I can offer SAME DAY PAYMENT – depending on my availability. To speed the payment process, nominate your preferred bank account. I’ll need to know the bank, BSB number and the account name and number.

Please insist and ask for short issue high value stamps to be used, and ask that these be very lightly cancelled. It increases my overall buying price and gives stamp collectors of the future a chance to obtain some genuinely used stamps from the current year. It’s about using stamps for the purpose that they were intended!

Deal with someone who won’t muck around. You get a fair price and fast payment!

For the right items I have the capacity to pay big dollars. So whether you’re disposing of that collection of high value “roos”, or if its simply a childhood collection, send them to me today! It costs surprisingly little to post a box of stamps.
